School, Hawaii, and the A to Z Challenge

I’ve finished school!

Fifty-two straight weeks of learning about graphic design and now I’ve graduated. I even graduated with presidential honours!

For completing school, my mom took me on an 11 day trip to Hawaii. Maui was absolutely amazing! We drove the road to Hana, went in a lava tube, hung out on a beach with black sand, went to a luau, snorkelled in a crater, watched the surfers, saw lots of turtles, went to the ocean centre, and more!

  • Turtles!

We got home yesterday after a red-eye flight which I did NOT sleep a wink on and I forced myself to stay up so I would sleep at night. Now that I am rested, I decided that I would participate in the A to Z Challenge again this year! I didn’t participate last year because I was in school, but I did the year before and I loved it.

A to Z Challenge

This year I am going to have a very relevant topic to my life… Graphic Design!

So get prepared for regular posts because starting Saturday I will be posting every day but Sundays for the whole month of April!

Graphic Design and a Business?!

Wow, I have not updated in quite some time… SORRY!

A lot has happened since we moved into our house and not much of it has involved actually writing. Truthfully, I haven’t written much at all in months! (Crazy, I know). But that is for good reason — Well, I think it is good reason — and that reason is… I am doing a graphic design program and my husband and I started our own business!

I am on week 11 of 52 for my program and I am loving it. And after I finish, I am most likely also going to do a 52 week program for web design. I am really excited to be able to make my own book covers in the future and, once I am finished the program, I plan on creating a brand new design for my website!

As for our business, my husband is a developer and I’m working on becoming a graphic designer (match made in heaven :P), so we decided to start our own company called Coded Pixel Development and Design.

I created the logo! What do you think?

We already have a great client and we are working on our first mobile app that we hope to release soon!

Now everyone, don’t worry! I will continue to write. I will always write. That is my first and foremost love. I’m just taking a break to get our business on the go and my schooling finished and then I will be back to writing like crazy! PROMISE!

I’ll try to update more frequently in the future, and even write a few posts that are not just updates soon. Buh-bye!

New Year, New Home, New Goals

We’re finally in our house!

  • The Kitchen!
  • Dining Room!
  • Living Room!
  • Master Bedroom!
  • Ensuite!
  • Tupperware!

(Do you think I have enough Tupperware? Probably not…)

We moved in on December 30th, so we got to bring in the new year in our new home. I am currently writing this in my half-setup new office! Woo, first time home owning!

Anyway, now for something not as exciting… I failed at my 2015 goal of finishing a full first draft of a novel. I know, I know… LAME! But I did get further than I ever have before, so that’s something right?

But now it is 2016, and I am setting the bar even higher! (Then, even if I don’t reach it, I will probably get further than I did this year. That’s my problem… Not setting the bar high enough!) This year I am going to PUBLISH my first book. Crazy, I know. I’m going to dive right into The Tree of Eternity and get this book DONE. New year, new home, new (lofty) goals!

How am I going to do this? I’m going to write. And edit. And write. And edit. REPEAT. Until I am done. Then I am going to put it out into the world and see what happens. Oh, and start writing my next book (Which will be the first of a trilogy that I am super excited about!).
I better get to work!

What are your goals for 2016? Comment below so I can stay on your case 😛 (And please stay on mine!)
