Camp NaNoWriMo and I Need Your Help!

Wordcount for July 17For the past two weeks I have been participating in an event called Camp NaNoWriMo. It is the relaxed, summer version of November’s NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month). Instead of NaNoWriMo’s goal of 50,000 words, with Camp NaNo’s flexible word count goal, I have chosen to write 25,000 words by July 31st at 11:59PM! For the first week, I did really well. As you can see in the graph there, I kept up with my daily word goal every day – sometimes even surpassing it. Now the words seem to be jammed up in my head and are unwilling to loosen up and spill out onto my computer screen. It has been rather frustrating.

I am hoping that now that I’m into week three the words will start flowing again, so that I can catch up! I have participated in NaNoWriMo and Camp NaNoWriMo multiple times now and it seems that the end of week two is the most sluggish time of the whole month. Well, except for the times I have given up half way through the month…

I have not yet reached a NaNo goal, so I am hoping that this will be the month that I succeed. I just need to pick up the pace! Anyone who has inspiring words or words that will kick my butt into gear, please leave them in the comments section below. I need your help to get my fingers back to typing toward my goal!

A Website of My Own

FireworksWelcome! As you can probably guess from the fireworks, I’m excited to launch my very own website. For some reason I have always wanted to have a website of my own, even if there was no reason for it. But this one does have a reason! Three actually:

– I want to have somewhere consistent that I can update others on how my writing projects are going (via blog posts and the nifty progress bars to the right).

– I want to hear feedback about my progress (via blog comments and the “Contact Me” page).

– And, to be totally honest, I want to start getting a following. That way when I become a published author I will have a community of people to be excited with me!

I have had a Twitter account for quite some time and I recently made myself a Facebook page (you can “follow” and “like” each of those in the sidebar). But I found that Twitter’s 140 characters were limiting and that Facebook’s layout was not quite what I wanted, so my husband and I set about creating a place where I had more space to write and more freedom in how I used said space. I will continue to use my social media accounts for updates and fun things I find on the Internet, but for my more in-depth updates I will be using this space!

If you want to know more about me and how I first got into writing, you can check out the “About Me” section of my website by clicking the link in the menu bar above.

Now, I am off to continue making progress on my novel, so that I can update my progress bars!
