Graphic Design and a Business?!

Wow, I have not updated in quite some time… SORRY!

A lot has happened since we moved into our house and not much of it has involved actually writing. Truthfully, I haven’t written much at all in months! (Crazy, I know). But that is for good reason — Well, I think it is good reason — and that reason is… I am doing a graphic design program and my husband and I started our own business!

I am on week 11 of 52 for my program and I am loving it. And after I finish, I am most likely also going to do a 52 week program for web design. I am really excited to be able to make my own book covers in the future and, once I am finished the program, I plan on creating a brand new design for my website!

As for our business, my husband is a developer and I’m working on becoming a graphic designer (match made in heaven :P), so we decided to start our own company called Coded Pixel Development and Design.

I created the logo! What do you think?

We already have a great client and we are working on our first mobile app that we hope to release soon!

Now everyone, don’t worry! I will continue to write. I will always write. That is my first and foremost love. I’m just taking a break to get our business on the go and my schooling finished and then I will be back to writing like crazy! PROMISE!

I’ll try to update more frequently in the future, and even write a few posts that are not just updates soon. Buh-bye!

New Year, New Home, New Goals

We’re finally in our house!

  • The Kitchen!
  • Dining Room!
  • Living Room!
  • Master Bedroom!
  • Ensuite!
  • Tupperware!

(Do you think I have enough Tupperware? Probably not…)

We moved in on December 30th, so we got to bring in the new year in our new home. I am currently writing this in my half-setup new office! Woo, first time home owning!

Anyway, now for something not as exciting… I failed at my 2015 goal of finishing a full first draft of a novel. I know, I know… LAME! But I did get further than I ever have before, so that’s something right?

But now it is 2016, and I am setting the bar even higher! (Then, even if I don’t reach it, I will probably get further than I did this year. That’s my problem… Not setting the bar high enough!) This year I am going to PUBLISH my first book. Crazy, I know. I’m going to dive right into The Tree of Eternity and get this book DONE. New year, new home, new (lofty) goals!

How am I going to do this? I’m going to write. And edit. And write. And edit. REPEAT. Until I am done. Then I am going to put it out into the world and see what happens. Oh, and start writing my next book (Which will be the first of a trilogy that I am super excited about!).
I better get to work!

What are your goals for 2016? Comment below so I can stay on your case 😛 (And please stay on mine!)

Life and Writing Update!

Sorry friends, I haven’t posted in quite some time!

But…… Here’s an update!

Life has been busy and stressful and exciting and crazy, but that is no excuse. I’ve got a few ideas for blog posts so expect more to come shortly.

My husband and I moved back in with my parents in June, while we wait for our house to be finished being built. It should be done in about a month (soooo excited!) and then life will get a bit back to normal. I’m also back to work as buying a house is an expensive venture, so writing has kind of fallen to the side lines. I know, I know, I should really make it a priority but life is hard and days are short!

I’m still reaching for my goal of having a completed first draft of a novel by the end of the year, I am close to the half way point on The Tree of Eternity, so now I just really need to get down to business! Life just needs to stop throwing me curve balls, gosh darn it!

Here are some pictures of the progress of my house:
